  • Overview: This project investigated the historical and cultural value of the Chubong-do and Yongho-do prisoner-of-war camp sites, treated as peace heritage with distinct scholarly and historical significance. It carried out baseline condition surveys, academic and evidentiary research, and planning work for the preservation, use, and infrastructure development of these historic island sites.

  • Details: Surveyed the natural, human, and historical conditions of the POW camp remains / conducted academic research through the collection, cataloging, and annotation of domestic and overseas sources, including materials from the National Institute of Korean History and the U.S. National Archives, while also surveying building assets within the cultural-heritage zones of Chubong-do and Yongho-do / proposed conservation, management, and exhibition models based on three directions: peace (coexistence), path (connection), and ecology (sustainability).
